Happily Ever After Starts Here...

Nestled in the rolling hills of Central New York, Arlington Acres is an authentic rustic event venue business located in the town of Fabius. The 100-acre farm features a 2,500 sq. ft. barn that can accommodate 200 guests for weddings and other social gatherings.

Arlington Acres is owned and managed by Katie Hatch Jerome. As an experienced meeting & event planner, she’s always dreamed of converting her grandparent’s dairy farm into a venue of her own. After contemplating spending thousands of dollars to host elsewhere, Katie started this endeavor by holding her own wedding there in June 2016.

Built in the 1800’s by Daniel Webster French, Arlington Acres has been transformed from a working dairy farm into a sophisticated event space.

About Us...

Our venue is 100% family owned & operated. We hope that by the end of your event, you feel like family too! Here's a little more about the cast of characters you're likely to meet at Arlington Acres.

Katie - It's always been Katie's dream to run her own wedding venue. After transforming the barn for her own nuptials in 2016, she loves helping other couples bring their dream day to life. With an extensive background in marketing and event planning, Katie is the owner and face of the business. While Arlington Acres is her passion, she's also very busy with her full time job and two adorable sons.

Nancy (Mom) - Nancy grew up on the farm as Arlington's youngest daughter. Her childhood was spent helping her dad with chores, chasing the resident kittens and playing in the hayloft--it was a great place to grow up! Nancy probably spends the most time in the barn of anyone. She spends her "retirement" giving tours, beautifying the grounds, decorating, setting-up, tending to guests needs and keeping an eye on her favorite grandsons. If Katie is the face, Nancy is the heart! This sweet lady is often behind-the-scenes but is the real reason our venue runs so smoothly.

Dave (Dad) - Dave's first memories of the farm date back to 1966 when he started dating his high-school sweetheart, Nancy. He earned Arlington's respect (and ultimately the hand of his daughter) with manual labor. Their "dates" often included stacking hay and picking rocks. He and Nancy made their first home in the small tenant house that still sits across the street. A lawyer, Dave also replaced Arlington as Town Justice of Fabius after Arlington's sudden death in 1977. Today Dave is the resident ceremony officiant, groundskeeper and tour-giver.

Steve (Hubby) - Steve was lucky enough to marry into this dysfunctional family. He wears many hats--handyman, bartender, painter, photographer, landscaper. But Steve is best known for his special projects, like converting the original granary into Arlington Acres signature bar, parking lot lighting and handcrafted wooden vanity in the new bridal suite. He loves finding new uses for the beautiful wood original to the property.

Aunt Carol - Arlington's oldest daughter Carol has owned the farm since 1996. After growing up here, it's been important to her to keep the farm in the family and its hundred-acres intact. She recently returned to the area and enjoys restoring the farmhouse where she now lives full-time. Carol loves having all the "activity" on the farm again. She’s also the sweetest woman you’ll ever meet, and often saves the day by supplying a forgotten supply.

Dan (Brother) - Like all of the Garrett grand-kids, Dan spent weekends on the farm growing up. Exploring the woods, making forts out of hay and eating grandma’s molasses cookies are just a few of his favorite memories. An engineer like his grandfather, Dan is Arlington Acres’ reluctant but talented facilities manager. A certified electrician, he meticulously re-wired and installed new electrical throughout the barn. You’ll most likely find Dan fixing anything that’s broken and cleaning up at the end of the night (perfect for this night owl). His impressive weather station is mounted to the barn roof and provides the most accurate wedding-day forecast around.

Uncle Dick - The youngest of Arlington’s two sons, Dick has never strayed very far from home. He raised his four children on the farm next door, built a new home on the hill adjacent to the property, and now lives in a log cabin across the street. Uncle Dick has a warm heart and an unforgettable presence. He will often stop by to check-in on things, meet our couples and share a story or two about his days on the farm. Dick is also a retired Town Justice and performs wedding ceremonies as well.

Garrett - Named after both of his great-grandfathers, Garrett Lyman is part of the 6th generation on the farm. This little charmer is available as a stand-in ring bearer and is a big help to his parents and grandparents. Born on St. Patrick’s Day in 2017 to Katie & Steve, this is Garrett’s fourth summer on the farm. He loves using the barn as his indoor playground for all his big trucks and toys.

Wyatt - The newest member of the family was born in November 2019. He loves to chase his big brother around the barn.

The History

History of Arlington Acres

Our family farm was settled in 1862 By D.W. & Elvira French. The original house still stands across the road, where it was moved with a team of horses around the turn of the century.

The first wedding was actually held here in 1904 when Katie’s great-grandparents Berdena French and Jesse Garret were married on June 23 in front of the bay windows in the present farmhouse.

Katie’s grandfather, Arlington, married “Billie” Abbott in 1934. They had four children, Paul, Richard, Carol & Nancy. Arlington took over the farm in the 1930s and ran it until 1977 at the time of his death in an automobile accident. Although it hasn’t been an active dairy since, it’s always remained a working farm as the land continues to be leased to local farmers.

We chose the name Arlington Acres to honor a man who was respected and beloved by his family and friends. At the time of his passing a beautiful tribute was written about him in the Tully Independent.

“He loved his community where he was born. His farm was not only an operation for purposes of making a living, but of love and affection which would remind him of family connections associated with the land for many years”

We are sure he would love that his beautiful old barn has been given a new life as wedding venue.
Thank you! The Garrett Family

The Transformation

When Katie told her family and husband-to-be she wanted to get married in grandpa's barn, they all shook their heads. As you'll see from the photos below, it was in rough shape. Hundreds of bales of hay were stacked from floor to ceiling.  Parts of the floor hadn't been uncovered in half a century. Wind and rain blew through the walls. It hadn't been painted in decades. Years of hard farming left lots of patching and repairs. There were still horses living downstairs.

But it has good bones! Thanks to her Aunt Carol who has owned the property since 1996, a solid roof protected the beams and overall structure of our old barn. Somehow Katie convinced her family to take on the challenge. Over the course of a year, many hands worked hundreds of hours to transform and restore the farm to its former glory.
